The Veterinary Medicines Directorate announced that in April 2012 that the sales of veterinary medicines over the internet will be more tightly controlled in Britain.
The government will approve websites that will be the only sources available to legally dispense and supply veterinary medicines. The British Veterinary Association said it supported this. The organization stated that they approved of adding a logo to approved websites to help consumers buy animals meds that are genuine, reported the British Magazine, Farmers Weekly Interactive.
Said British Veterinary Association President Harvey Locke, "Without proper regulation, online pharmacies could be sourcing drugs from overseas and selling counterfeit medicines that look genuine."
