Tom Kubic, leading expert in counterfeit medicines re-joins the board of the Partnership for Safe Medicines
WASHINGTON (June 4, 2019) – PSM Board President Marv Shepherd announced today that Tom Kubic, previous President and CEO of the Pharmaceutical Security Institute and veteran agent of the FBI, would be joining the board of the Partnership for Safe Medicines as Director Emeritus.
Following his successful career with the FBI where he led the Bureau’s national health care fraud and corruption programs, Tom was selected as the President and CEO of the Pharmaceutical Security Institute. Focusing on the collection, analysis and dissemination of information documenting the extent of international pharmaceutical crimes, the Institute has become a trusted source of information concerning unsafe medicines. It works closely with the security directors and quality control experts from thirty-seven pharmaceutical manufacturers. Its reports are regularly shared with global enforcement agencies including the World Customs Organization and INTERPOL. Likewise, its annual Situation Report is shared with drug regulatory agencies including the World Health Organization.
"Tom brings unique experience and expertise in worldwide counterfeit organizations” said board President Marv Shepherd. “PSM is lucky to have his counsel at this time. On a more personal note, I'm happy to welcome my old friend back to the Partnership for Safe Medicines."
“I’m pleased to re-join the Partnership for Safe Medicines’ Board of Directors at a time when factual information concerning the risks posed by medicines reaching unsuspecting Americans is critically needed” said Tom.
"Tom's return to PSM comes at a critical time when many good proposals to address health care costs are being ignored for the policy unicorn of 'Canadian importation'” said PSM Executive Director Shabbir Imber Safdar. “I am excited to have Tom on board to lend his decades of experience chasing counterfeiters around the globe to the Partnership for Safe Medicines."
