#FakePillsKill Three Young Adults Share Their Experiences with Fake Drugs

In a new public service announcement from Pfizer, De’Anna J., Christian V. and Alexandra G. share how counterfeit pills have impacted their lives. The short film lets them tell their stories as a cautionary tale for anyone who might be exposed to fake prescription pills.

De‘Anna described her first experience with what she now knows was a counterfeit pill: “My first time taking a pill that was cut, a counterfeit pill, I blacked out, and woke up vomiting.”  She also described losing her partner to a fake pill, who died from one when he was just 21.

Alexandra made the point that access to pills has become frighteningly easy: “It’s not the old-fashioned, go stand at the corner of the block and wait for someone, it’s literally just post a status online.”

What all three emphasized was that you have no way of knowing what is in the so-called prescription pills you get online. As Christian said: “You don’t know what’s going to be in these pills, what exactly you’re putting in your body when you’re not getting it from a doctor.”
