Fentanyl and fentanyl pills have transformed the drug landscape since 2015
Counterfeit pills made with fentanyl have proliferated across the U.S. since 2015, killing people in all 50 states. As cartels have taken over fentanyl pill production, they have become heavily trafficked. Distribution has transitioned from the street and the dark web to social media, leading to younger and younger victims. At the same time, they have also become more deadly, with six in ten pills containing a potentially lethal dose.
