What Doctors Need to Know About the Secure Drug Supply Chain

The Partnership for Safe Medicines (PSM) worked with the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) to create a co-branded infographic to educate doctors about the importance of only sourcing medicine from licensed members of the secure U.S. drug supply chain. No country is immune to counterfeit medicine, and while rare, counterfeit medicine has made its way into the U.S. and into patients’ bodies.

When asked about this new infographic, PSM Executive Director Shabbir Imber Safdar said, “We were excited to work with AMWA to create this resource to educate medical professionals on this issue. Counterfeiters are getting better at faking medicines as well as primary and secondary packaging. All doctors need to understand, for the safety of their patients and their practices, the only safe medications are ones that have been safely sourced.”
