You Can Safely Purchase Pet Meds Online and Help Homeless Animals at the Same Time
As reported on Benzinga.com, the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) awarded PetRescueRX, the nation’s only online pet pharmacy that donates 100% of their profits to animal shelters and nonprofit rescue groups, a .pharmacy domain. When NABP reviewed over 11,000 online pharmacies, they found that almost 96% of the websites were out of compliance with U.S. pharmacy laws and practice standards that protect the public health. Legitimate online pharmacies needed a way to let consumers and search engines know that they are verified and safe. After spearheading an initiative, NABP is now the registry operator for .pharmacy, ensuring applicants meet and keep NABP’s high standards.
PetRescueRX.pharmacy was founded in June 2013 by Glenn Buckley, DVM. Its mission is to provide an additional revenue stream to support non-profit animal welfare organizations. Dr. Buckley knows how much Americans love their pets. According to the American Pet Products Association, Americans spend over $60 billion on them during 2016, and the pet prescription industry estimated to be worth more than $8 billion by itself. Dr. Buckley is also keenly aware of how much animal shelters and rescues struggle to help the estimated 6-8 million homeless pets we have in this country. He wondered if it would be possible to take the profits from the medicines that keep our most loved animals healthy to help homeless animals find their forever homes. It is a business model he calls “Pets Before Profits.”
People have many options for where they can buy their pet’s medications. When a person chooses to purchase the medications from PetRescueRX.pharmacy, they are allowed to pick from a list of the over 500 animal shelters or rescues that the profits from their purchase will be donated to. In just over three years, PetRescueRX.pharmacy has donated over $60,000.
