DEA tells e-commerce companies they have compliance obligations for pill press sales on their platforms.
Following the Department of Justice's US$59mm settlement with eBay for failing to fulfill compliance obligations related to international sales of pill presses, the DEA has issued a general letter to e-commerce companies notifying them of their obligations in this area. In short, e-commerce companies that facilitate transactions for pill press machines are considered "regulated persons" for the recordkeeping, identification, and reporting required by the Controlled Substances Act.
