Initiative To Reduce Counterfeit Drugs Gets Mixed Reviews
Come December, drug makers and distributors will have to keep track of every single person who handles the 7.5 million bottles of medicine shipped daily within the U.S.
These companies also will have to keep track of the drugs' lot numbers and the addresses they pass through.
It's all part of an effort to reduce the number of counterfeit drugs that make their way into the homes of U.S. consumers. The
Food and Drug Administration estimates that 8% of prescription drugs worldwide are counterfeit.
