Canadian Department of Justice Takes Part in Canada Drugs Raid
The Canadian Department of Justice, along with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have raided Kris Thorkleson’s Canada Drugs.com headquarters in Manitoba, the CBC reports. Speaking with the National Post, PSM Board member Jim Dahl expressed the opinion that the raids are a direct result of the ongoing investigation of counterfeit Avastin making it’s way into U.S. doctors’ offices. Mr. Dahl told the National Post “Do I think it’s related to the Avastin thing? Absolutely, I don’t think there’s any question about it. Their entire business model…is in violation of U.S. law.”
The CBC noted that Canada Drugs’ wholesale prescription drug license was temporarily suspended in January 2014, and that license has yet to be reinstated. According to the CBC, Canada Drugs “can’t sell prescription drugs to pharmacies until the department’s concerns are addressed.”
