Police Looking for Info on Large Pharmaceutical Theft
A large pharmaceutical theft occurred at a drug manufacturing facility in Ontario and now the police are asking the public for help.
Niagara Regional Police said that in late August a large quantity of pseudoephedrine was stolen from the Fort Erie pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Fort Erie, Ontario, according to the Buffalo News.
After having been unsuccessful in their own endeavors to catch the criminals, local police are now hoping that someone will come forward and provide them with information about the crime.
Pharmaceutical thefts, particularly ones of this magnitude, pose a serious threat to drug consumers everywhere.
Often times criminals cut the drug in order to make more doses. This typically occurs with substances that are not approved for human consumption, meaning that such drugs can seriously harm or even kill those who take them.
Even if criminals do not tamper with stolen drugs, they rarely store or handle them properly, which can drastically effect the drugs ability to perform its intended function.
Pseudoephedrine used to relieve nasal congestion caused by colds, allergies, and hay fever, according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information.
