Police Look for Man Responsible for Arkansas Pharmaceutical Theft
A man jumped over the counter at Harp’s pharmacy in Mountain Home, Arkansas, and made off with a quantity of the painkiller Hydrocodone, according to the Baxter Bulletin.
Investigator Eddie Griffin with the Mountain Home Police Department told the news provider that the robber walked into the pharmacy and sat in the chair to have his blood pressure taken. When the pharmacist walked over, the burglar hopped over the counter, grabbed the medication and ran out of the store.
The pharmacist followed the man outside and saw him drive a pickup truck onto U.S. Highway 62, said Griffin. Police were able to find the suspected pickup truck at a nearby trailer park but have been unable to locate the suspect.
However, police say they have identified the man and have issued a warrant for his arrest on charges of commercial burglary and the theft of pharmaceuticals.
The theft of pharmaceuticals poses risks to consumers because often times criminals tamper with the drugs, diminishing their efficacy and possibly making them toxic.
