Pharmacist Facing Disciplinary Action on Top of Fake Drug Charges
The Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing is currently investigating whether it should impose disciplinary action against a pharmacist accused of importing counterfeit drugs on top of the federal penalties she may face.
Marla Ahlgrimm was recently booked on federal charges of conspiracy to import counterfeit drugs and is currently free on bail, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. Now the state’s licensing agency is looking into her licenses.
Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing spokesman David W. Carlson Jr. told the news provider that it can discipline its members through revocations, reprimands, fines and suspensions.
Facing the federal charges and now potential disciplinary action from the state agency, Ahlgrimm’s lawyer said that his client intends to fight the allegations that she intended to distribute counterfeit drugs.
“At this time, the (criminal) investigation is in its early stages,” Edwards told the news provider in an email. “We have seen the complaint, which is vague and difficult to follow. At this time, we are skeptical of these allegations and we intend to vigorously defend Ms. Ahlgrimm.”
