Counterfeit medicine becomes serious problem

A specialist urologist, Dr. James Nkusi has said that counterfeit medicines are becoming a serious problem and control measures are being taken worldwide. He said the sale of such drugs is highly profitable as it is a low risk enterprise and non-taxable in most cases.

Nkusi said that the danger to the consumer is that the products are of low quality and are often produced in hazardous and unhygienic factories. He said the products may contain few, too much or no active ingredients at all.
